Just as I was about to post a happy Lunar New Year photo I received this video from 8th and Harrison in Chinatown, outside the Asian Resource Center. My heart sank.

It reminds me too much of the 84-year old Asian man who was assaulted and died in San Francisco last week.
⠀
According to the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce President, this suspect attacked several others that very same day.

It all comes he documented over 20 robberies and assaults in Chinatown in two weeks.

Today president Carl Chan felt optimistic change would be made as business owners gathered for a press conference with the mayor and city leaders.

Chinatown seniors he says “are afraid to go outside” but I’ve learned there are efforts being made to help escort them around town. This is a resilient community and there are many efforts to help which I’m looking forward to reporting on soon ❤️
